Alta Vista Real Estate
Slightly northwest of Bethesda between Rockville Pike and Old Georgetown Road and north of W. Cedar Lane and the National Institutes of Health. According to MapQuest, AltaVista is 2.5 miles from downtown Bethesda, 12.38 miles and 17 minutes driving time from Tyson's Corner, Virginia and 9.27 miles from the White House and approximately a 26 minute drive. Alta Vista was developed on 222 acres starting in 1901 along the Georgetown and Rockville Electric Railway by the American Security and Trust Company and owned by the Bethesda Land Company. Originally the land was divided into one and two acre lots which were subsequenty resubdivided into much smaller lots. The original homes were largely foursquares and bungalows.
