English Village Real Estate
According to MapQuest English village is 8.42 miles from the White House and approximately a 25 min. drive. Out Bradley Boulevard from downtown Bethesda, one finds English Village near Bradley's intersection with Wilson Lane. Turn down Wilson and you will drive by Greenwich Forest and Edgemoor on your way to Old Georgetown Road and downtown, barely a mile from the Bethesda Metro stop. English Village is a shady, lovely and quiet neighbood dating back to the 20s and 30s, much of which has been replaced with newer homes. Street names are Oldchester Road, Radnor Road, Maiden Lane, Aberdeen Road Bradley Boulevard, Wilson Lane and English Court. Some of the homes built originally in English Village were the famous Sears Catalog Homes.
Many of the original homes in English Village were tiny by today's standards on large lots compared to the size of the houses. This made them ideal sites for builders to knock the old homes down and build big new ones. This has happened quite a bit throughout the neighborhood, especially on Oldchester Road,
The public school cluster is Walt Whitman High School, Thomas W. Pyle Middle School and Bradley Hill Elementary School. The public records show 277 homes in English Village.
