Bradley Hills Real Estate
According to MapQuest, Bradley Hills is 7.71 miles from the White House and a 23 min. drive. The neighborhood has roughly 516 homes, dating back to 1918. The preponderance of the homes were built in the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. 15 homes sold in Bradley Hills in 2011 on either side of Bradley Boulevard from Devon Road down to Fairfax Road. The top sold price was $2,975,00 and the average sold price was $1,418,533.
In 1912 W.W. Offutt subdivided 81.5 acres into 500 lots and named them Bradley Hills. Real estate developers publicized the plans for the Bradley Hills area extensively with all kinds of attractive feature, such as the country clubThe development of Bradley Hills real estate was enabled by the trolley line which went into service in 1913. The trolley line was 10.2 miles long and stretched form Wisconsin Avenue near its intersection with the then-called Bradley Hills Boulevard on the north side of the road out past Edgemoor and then crossed over to the south side of the road and out to intersect with River Road. From there it went cross country and made a loop at Great Falls. This trolley had freight capabilities which allowed things such as coal for heating to be brought out much more inexpensively to the homes which were popping up in Bradley Hills and other neighbohoods which were subdivided off of the original Bradley Hills tract and were developed later off what became Bradley Boulevard. The trolley line stayed in service until 1921 and the order was approved for the removal of the tracks in 1926. A remaining piece of the track was still visible in the macadam at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Bradley Boulevard years later.
