Forest Hills is situated S. Of Military Rd., West of Rock Creek Park, east of Connecticut Ave. and north of Soapstone Valley Park. The distance from Forest Hills to Tysons Corner Virginia is 14.02 miles and approximately 27 min. driving time. To the White House it is 5.21 miles and approximately 17 min. driving time. The Van Ness Metro stop is close by. There is lots of shopping on Connecticut Avenue nearby, including a well-respected wine and cheese depot at Calvert Woodley Liquor, and a popular bookstore/gathering spot called Politics and Prose. From this location Connecticut Avenue is a straight shot to farther downtown, or you can take the Rock Creek Parkway or other sidestreets to navigate around. Forest Hills is primarily single-family homes. But nearby on Connecticut Avenue you can find a number of high-rise apartment and condo buildings, some of them dating back to prewar days. According to tax records, Forest Hills has 881 single-family homes. Typically there are gently rolling hills and lots of shade trees throughout the neighborhood.
