One of the finest and most highly sought-after high-end neighborhoods in the area. The initial application to develop Kenwood consisted of 200 acres of land, to be developed by Edgar S. Kennedy and his partner Donal L. Chamberlain. The first house went up in 1927 and Kenwood Country Club was finished in 1928. The first two streets to be finished were Kennedy and Chamberlain. Kenwood real estate is famous for its Japanese cherry trees which line the streets - gorgeous in the spring, drawing tourists from afar. Gently rolling hills with mature shade trees, nicely winding streets with very little through traffic and many huge, beautifully landscaped homes on large lots.
Kenwood was originally part of Bethesda and is very convenient to downtown Bethesda, downtown DC and to Virginia via the Beltway.
