Chevy Chase Section 4 - Town of Chevy Chase
Chevy Chase Section 4 was incorporated in 1918. The name was later changed to the Town of Chevy Chase. The borders run from one block east of Wisconsin Avenue, north to East West Highway, west to Connecticut Avenue, south to Bradley Lane and west to Wisconsin. The area was largely developed by the Chevy Chase Land Company. The key piece of land to the development of Chevy Chase was granted in 1725 by the fifth Lord Baltimore to Colonel Joseph Belt. The name Chevy Chase derives from the Cheviot sheep in Scotland.
